Lainey Wilson brought a whole lot of country fire to the Big Easy when she hopped on stage with Mumford & Sons for a surprise performance that had fans buzzing.
During Mumford & Sons’ “Railroad Revival Tour” stop in New Orleans, fans were treated to a surprise that no one saw coming. The “Heart Like A Truck” singer joined the band to perform a folk-meets-country rendition of Shania Twain‘s “Man! I Feel Like a Woman.” And yes, it was as fun as it sounds.
While we weren’t lucky enough to experience it in real life, a fan captured the whole thing on TikTok.
The Mumford & Sons lead singer, Marcus, kicked things off with the iconic line, “Let’s go, girls” before Lainey belted out the 1997 anthem that got the whole crowd dancing. Before we even watched the whole performance, we immediately ran to the comment section to see what fans were saying and let’s just say, it did not disappoint. “Literally we are not worthy,” joked one person. “One of the best songs by some of the best artists in one of the best cities. I could have passed away so happy if I was there,” wrote another person.
After the show, Lainey gave fans a glimpse behind the curtain on Instagram by sharing candid pics with the band and fellow singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers. She even teased a dream collab by jokingly writing, “Can it be Mumford & Sons + one new sister now?”
This mashup between artists isn’t just a one-off. Mumford & Sons had already shared their own clip covering Lainey’s hit son “4x4xU” earlier in the tour. So maybe it’s not just a simple jam session on stage, but the beginning of a possible musical collab in the future.
The folk band is currently touring North America for their album Rushmere and have several more U.S. stops this fall before heading to Europe. Meanwhile, Lainey’s balancing tour life with some much deserved down time after getting engaged earlier this year. And, if this New Orleans moment is any clue, she’s also making time for the kind of stage surprises fans won’t forget.
