The top two teams in the AL Central open a three-game weekend set on Friday, Aug. 22 as the Detroit Tigers host the Kansas City Royals at Comerica Park in Detroit.

After losing consecutive series to the Philadelphia Phillies and Minnesota Twins to start August, the Tigers have won 10 of 13, and are now on a three-game winning after sweeping the Houston Astros.
The Royals are in one of their hottest stretches of the season, winning eight of their last 10, including a five-game winning streak that was snapped on Wednesday.
