Prince William and Kate Middleton’s oldest child celebrated the milestone on July 22, stepping into his teens. The couple honored the day with a new portrait, carrying on the yearly tradition they began when he was one. For the latest photo, the birthday boy went for a dressy look in a suit and no tie.
Later that day, the Prince and Princess of Wales also put out an 18-second video of Prince George on social media that highlighted his laid-back side. They have done the same for the other kids this year when Princess Charlotte turned 11 back in May, and Prince Louis turned 8 in April.
It kicks off with the teen royal giving a little wave and grin to the camera in his signature orange-framed sunglasses, the same pair he wore to Wimbledon a few weeks ago. Next, Prince George is seen chatting during a boat trip. After that, he shares a sweet moment petting the family cocker spaniels, Orla and Otto. He then jumped into a game of cricket on the sand.
The video continues with the Wales’ firstborn guiding his little brother up a rocky incline, the sea stretching out behind them. Later, he hops over gaps in the rocks, sits, and points out at the scenery. “Thank you for all the birthday wishes for George today!” the caption read, accompanied by a birthday cake emoji.
Prince George’s 13th birthday marks a big step as he recently finished up at Lambrook School and will join Eton College this fall.
