The post Snoop Dogg “Scared to Go to Movies” Due to LGBTQ+ Representation in Kids Films appeared first on Consequence.

Rapper Snoop Dogg has spoken out against LGBTQ+ representation in children’s films, stating, “they’re putting it everywhere,” and that it brings up questions he’s not prepared to answer.

Snoop was a guest on the It’s Giving podcast when he opened up about taking his grandson to a screening of the 2022 Pixar movie, Lightyear, and being shocked to see one of the main characters being raised by a lesbian couple. When his grandson asked how two women could have a baby, the rapper was at a loss for words.

“I didn’t come in for this shit. I just came to watch the goddamn movie,” Snoop recalled, adding that the moment “fucked me up. I’m like, scared to go to the movies. Y’all throwing me in the middle of shit that I don’t have an answer for… It threw me for a loop.”

The rapper went on to double down on his feelings, emphasizing that LGBTQ+ themes have no place in movies for kids: “We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer.”

The movie Lightyear is famous for featuring the first same-sex kiss in a Disney/Pixar film, which sparked internal controversy at the studio that almost led to the scene being cut from the movie.

“It’s tough to not be a little frustrated that it even has to be a topic of discussion, Lightyear star Chris Evans said at the time about the controversy. “The goal is that we can get to a point where it is the norm, and that this doesn’t have to be some uncharted waters, that eventually this is just the way it is”

Curiously, Snoop’s comments appear to have been edited out of the original video interview uploaded to YouTube. However, a clip can be seen here.

Snoop Dogg courted controversy earlier this year by performing at Donald Trump’s Inauguration Crypto Ball, responding to the ensuing backlash by saying, “I’m cool. I’m together… Still 100% Black.”
