August is closing on a high note for film and series lovers. Whether you’re into soulful romances, spy thrillers, superhero blockbusters, or nostalgic martial arts dramas, this week’s OTT lineup has it all. Big-screen hits like Metro… In Dino and Kingdom are making their digital debuts, while fresh originals promise drama, action, and heart. Here’s your quick guide to what’s dropping where—from Netflix to Prime Video to Sony LIV.

Metro… In Dino – Netflix (29 August)

Anurag Basu’s Metro… In Dino is the spiritual successor to his 2007 cult hit Life In A… Metro. The film weaves together four moving tales of love, commitment, distance, and rediscovery, led by a powerhouse cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Neena Gupta, and Anupam Kher. Released in cinemas on July 4, the emotional drama with its stirring soundtrack is now set for Netflix, with reports pointing to a premiere on August 29.

Kingdom – Netflix (27 August)

Vijay Devarakonda’s Kingdom is a slick spy-action drama directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. Released theatrically on July 31, the high-octane film also stars Satyadev, Bhagyashri Borse, and Venkitesh. Netflix confirmed its streaming debut on August 27, releasing a fiery poster with the tagline: “In the kingdom of gold, blood and fire… a new king rises from the ashes.” The film will stream in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam—dropping on the 8th anniversary of Vijay’s Arjun Reddy and 3rd of Liger.

Sambhava Vivaranam Nalarasangham – Sony LIV (29 August)

Malayalam audiences are in for a treat with Sambhava Vivaranam Nalarasangham: The Chronicles of the 4.5 Gang. Directed by Krishand, the gritty series mixes gangster drama, dark comedy, and real-life inspiration from Trivandrum’s underbelly. The story follows a slum-based gang of four men and a dwarf who rise to power by controlling milk and flower supply to over 100 temples. Featuring Sanju Sivram, Darshana Rajendran, Indrans, and Jagadish, the Onam release arrives on Sony LIV August 29.

Thunderbolts*– JioHotstar (27 August)

Marvel fans rejoice—Thunderbolts is crashing onto JioHotstar on August 27. The 36th MCU film, directed by Jake Schreier, brings together an unlikely team of antiheroes played by Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and more. Released in the US on May 2 as the grand finale of Phase Five, the film follows the dangerous mission of villains-turned-reluctant allies who must work together to survive a deadly trap. Expect Marvel’s signature mix of high-stakes action and sharp humor.

Songs of Paradise – Prime Video (29 August)

Set against the breathtaking landscapes of Kashmir, Songs of Paradise is a moving musical drama inspired by the life of singer Raj Begum. Directed by Danish Renzu, the film stars Saba Azad and Soni Razdan as Noor Begum in two eras, with supporting roles by Zain Khan Durrani, Sheeba Chaddha, and Lillete Dubey. Blending music, rebellion, and resilience, the story celebrates the spirit of Kashmir’s first playback star. Prime Video confirmed its streaming debut on August 29.

Karate Kid: Legends – Netflix (30 August)

The beloved franchise returns with Karate Kid: Legends, starring Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio alongside newcomer Ben Wang. Continuing from The Karate Kid (2010) and Cobra Kai, the story follows Li, a kung fu prodigy who moves to New York and confronts a fierce local karate champion. With guidance from Mr. Han (Chan) and Daniel LaRusso (Macchio), he faces his biggest test yet. After a May premiere in Mexico City, the martial arts drama lands on Netflix August 30.
