As previously reported, the new season will kick off with a Home Improvement reunion: Patricia Richardson, Richard Karn and Debbe Dunning will guest-star in Episode 1 and support Allen’s character, widower Matt Parker, in a surprising way.
Last Man Standing’s Nancy Travis, who guest-starred in Shifting Gears Season 1 as fellow widow Charlotte, will also return in Season 2.
The Shifting Gears Season 2 cast consists of series regulars Tim Allen as Matt, Kat Dennings as Riley, Seann William Scott as Gabriel, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell as Stitch, Maxwell Simkins as Carter and Barrett Margolis as Georgia. What’s more, Jenna Elfman will continue to recur as Riley’s boss (and Matt’s love interest) Eve.
Shifting Gears Season 2 premieres Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 8/7c on ABC. All Season 1 episodes are available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu. A trailer for Season 2 has not been released as of press time.
