The charity spin-off series features 19 celebrities that are confirmed as taking part in the show that’s filmed in the stunning Scottish Highlands for the perfectly spooky backdrop.
Famous faces include, Sir Stephen Fry, Clare Balding, Olympian Tom Daley, singer Charlotte Church, TV presenter Kate Garraway, actress Celia Imrie, comedian Alan Carr, singer Cat Burns, former England rugby player and podcaster Joe Marler, presenter Jonathan Ross and singer Paloma Faith.
The programme will be hosted by Strictly Come Dancing’s Claudia Winkleman, who also hosts the civilian version. The stars will compete to win £100,000 for their chosen charity.
Addressing the upcoming spin-off, Claudia previously shared: “We’re incredibly lucky these brilliant people have said yes. I’d love to say we’ll take it easy on them and they’ll just wander round the castle and eat toast for a couple of weeks but that would be a lie.”
Now, the BBC have confirmed that Celebrity Traitors will officially air in October this year.
Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, BBC unscripted director Syeda Irtizaali, said of the show: “It was a real pleasure to cast this series. I think where we started with was we wanted to have a really broad range of people, obviously, but we also wanted people that were real fans of the show, that really understood it.
“And so actually I’m not going to say it was easy. Roz, who put the cast together did an amazing job, but we were pushing on a bit of an open door with most of them.
“I was worried about it, I was worried about how they were going to play it compared to members of the public, but we have nothing to worry about, they really play the game, and some of the things that you’ll see them doing is extraordinary, that’s all I’m going to say.
“It’s well worth the wait.”
Nineteen stars will be taking on the hit BBC show(Image: BBC)As one of the confirmed contestants, Stephen Fry admitted: “It was a bit like a Chinese foot massage. You know it is absolutely agony but you sort of want to do it again. It is emotionally violent but you kind of love it.
“Obviously, I can’t say a word about what is in this recently recorded celebrity version I suppose. I am certainly not telling you if I am a Traitor or a Faithful. I am one or the other.”
He added: “I have said no to any number of Strictlys and Get Me Out of Heres as it is just not my kind of thing. But this, I watched the first and second series and it is such a clever game.
“It’s so extraordinary what it does to the psychology of the individual. And I just thought it would be really interesting to play it. And what an opportunity to do so. And that’s what I found.”
