“The Tiny Chef Show” is for children, but people of all ages were horrified when Netflix canceled the live-action animation series after three seasons.
The backlash began in June, when the show’s creators uploaded an animated video to social media that showed Tiny Chef getting a call from Nickelodeon. The green humanoid creature, voiced by Matt Hutchinson, began to cry after hearing that his Emmy-winning show had been canceled.
“But what about … all my friends?” Tiny Chef asked. After hanging up the call, he tried to resume his chores, but soon broke down in tears. Social media users were devastated by Tiny Chef’s suffering.
“As someone who has never seen a second of this show until this video, I am heartbroken and would run through a wall for Tiny Chef,” one person wrote via X.
“This is my first time seeing tiny chef and it made me cry,” another X user chimed in.
During a June interview with Vulture, Rachel Larsen, one of Tiny Chef’s creators, said that celebrities like Florence Pugh and Melissa McCarthy have shared the video.
“These are people we totally admire and love and Chef is a fan of,” Larsen said.
