WWE star Cody Rhodes and his wife, Brandi Rhodes, are now the proud parents of two.
Brandi, 42, announced the arrival of their baby daughter, Leilani, on Friday, August 29, via social media.
“Welcome to the world Leilani Ella Runnels. We are in love,” she wrote via Instagram alongside a photo of the newborn clutching her mom’s hand. “Thank you God for answered prayers. Cody + Brandi + Libby + Lani = ❤️”
Cody, 40, and Brandi met in 2011 and married in 2013. They also share 4-year-old daughter Liberty.
Unlike her last pregnancy, which Brandi announced six months before Liberty was born, fans had no idea that she was expecting another baby. Naturally, the replies were filled with congratulations from fans and wrestlers alike.
“Omg congratulations guys!!!” All Elite Wrestling’s Madison Rayne wrote via Instagram. “Welcome to the world, Leilani! 🩷”
“Congratulations 🎊🎉🎈🍾 wow kept a little secret! 😃,” retired WWE wrestler Gail Kim-Irvine added.
The big news comes the same week that Cody was spotted in Australia, where he is filming his upcoming Street Fighter movie. It’s unclear if he made it back in time for Leilani’s arrival, but he celebrated the news by sharing Brandi’s post to his Instagram story and adding a shot of Liberty wearing a pink hat that reads “Big Sister.”

In a 2021 interview with Us Weekly, Cody said he would be there for Brandi every step of the way as she navigated motherhood. She experienced postpartum depression after welcoming Liberty.
“I want to know what she’s going through. I want to be there for it,” he said. “‘Cause I don’t want to look back at this … and see that she did it all herself. … No matter how busy I get, I want to be there for all those things.”
Cody also appeared on Today in April, where he talked about how he explains his profession to Liberty.
“I wasn’t thinking I would have to have this conversation this early with her, but we did, because I left the ring at Elimination Chamber, [and] Travis Scott of all people put a very large mark on my face and my eardrum was busted,” he said. “She had a lot of concerns.”
“So what I have told her — and I don’t know if this is the best strategy — is that I’m pretending to be a superhero and I’m playing with my friends. And so far, that works, but we’ll see. Because I think the moment she sees playing with my friends turn into somebody, maybe beating me up, she has an adverse reaction.”
