Kyle wants to marry Claire as soon as possible. He’s been caught lying, and now he feels responsible for making it up to her. However, this rush down the aisle could have disastrous results. The Young and the Restless star Michael Mealor explained the thought process behind his on-screen persona.
Dash Down The Aisle
Unsurprisingly, Claire (Hayley Erin) didn’t take Kyle’s (Michael Mealor) confession well. She learned everything that went down in Nice. Kyle admitted that he kissed Audra (Zuleyka Silver) behind closed doors. But his goal was to expose her scheme with Victor (Eric Braeden).
Now, Claire isn’t sure if she can trust him. As for Kyle, he wants to propose to Claire as soon as possible. This shocking turn of events was revealed on the Thursday, August 28 episode. In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Mealor explained Kyle’s sudden need to get married as soon as possible.

“I think, honestly, he was scared. He was worried to confess everything to Claire, because leading into this, when Audra approached Kyle to be a part of this fragrance competition on social media, Claire was apprehensive about it,” Mealor explained. “She knows Kyle and Audra’s history. And she has never really been in this situation because it is Claire’s first serious relationship, and so those kinds of feelings of jealousy come up.”
Kyle is doing what he does best. He’s making the decision for Claire, even if it’s not the right decision at this time. Mealor explained that he’s only trying to protect her heart, even though his lies have already hurt her. In his mind, he still thinks he can get away with telling half-truths.
Not A Love Story
Kyle thinks he can woo Claire back into his life. However, he doesn’t have time for grand gestures, like Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who proposed to his famous girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Their engagement took place in a beautiful garden setting.

Kyle isn’t inspired by their love story. He has to act fast.
“Kyle is flying by the seat of his pants, and I think he’s pulling out all the stops that he can do in the shortest amount of time possible,” Mealor teased. “He knows that it has to be immediate, so he doesn’t have time to create this extravagant, romantic, Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce-type engagement.”
So, Y&R fans shouldn’t expect an elaborate proposal anytime soon. He also wants to keep their wedding plans as “simple” as possible. Kyle is also keeping Claire’s best interests in mind. She’s not the type who wants a grand, royal wedding. Does this mean the two could elope?
“She appreciates the simplicity. So all I have time for is the simplicity. Let’s go for that,” Mealor teased.
