Taylor Swift’s New Album Breaks Spotify Pre-Save Record

Taylor Swift’s new album is breaking records a month before release, becoming the most pre-saved album in Spotify history.

Taylor Swift has a knack for breaking records—sometimes even her own. The megastar’s upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, has already become the most pre-saved album in Spotify history, more than a month before its release.

Her 12th studio album, the record is due to drop on October 3. Swift shared the news last month during her appearance on the New Heights podcast, hosted by her now-fiancé Travis Kelce and his brother.

This week, Spotify announced that the upcoming album has already broken the previous record for the most pre-saved album Countdown Page in the streamer’s history. And the previous record-holder was—unsurprisingly—also Taylor Swift, for The Tortured Poets Department last year.

The Tortured Poets Department actually broke two streaming records on Spotify after its release, achieving 300 million plays in one day, and one billion in five days. Further, it made Swift the first artist in history to hold the top 14 spots on the Billboard Hot 100.

Swift released TTPD in April last year, initially as a 16-track record—only to surprise fans with the release of an extended version just hours later. The “anthology” edition featured a whopping 35 tracks.

But her new release won’t feature as many tracks as her last one. In fact, Swift revealed during the album’s announcement that it won’t contain any bonus tracks.

“It’s not like The Tortured Poets Department where I was like, ‘Here’s a data dump of everything I thought or felt in two or three years. Here’s 31 songs.’ This is 12,” she explained. “There’s not a 13th, there’s not a 14th, there’s not other ones coming.”

Shortly after announcing her new album, Swift announced her engagement to Travis Kelce, with a series of photos on Instagram showing the couple and the massive rock on Swift’s ring. Details of their upcoming nuptials have yet to be revealed.
