SiriusXM CEO has weighed in on the future of The Howard Stern Show as cancellation rumors continue.
Over the past few weeks, reports and President Donald Trump have suggested the radio host’s career is ending.
As Howard continues to suffer setbacks, Sirius XM President Scott Greenstein sheds light on the matter.
During a conference on Sept. 4, the media executive, 66, revealed that the company’s current goal is to keep the host. However, this will only happen if the new contract “makes sense.”
He started, “So Howard, for all these years and right up until now, is as important a content, single piece of content as we’ve had from the sense of being a lightning rod to get awareness for the service and publicity and all of that.
“He’s the best interviewer out there, period, bar none.
Scott assured fans that the meetings being held between SiriusXM and Howard’s team are normal and shouldn’t raise concern.
“We’ve always had a series, as all of you know, of renewals,” he explained. “With any talent at that level, you’re always going to have an extended period of negotiations.
“We’ve been pretty lucky all these years,” he continued. “We’d love them to stay.
“It certainly has to make sense, but we feel pretty good that we’ve done this before, and we’ll see where it goes.”
Scott has seen the radio host as a “core to our platform for over 20 years.”
“I’m confident we’ll get to the right place,” he concluded.

The speculation surrounding his renewal came after fans realized the radio host’s $500 million five-year contract with SiriusXM is set to expire at the end of the year.
Like the CEO, a source also said there was no need for followers’ panic as this was all a “desperate hoax.”
According to The Daily Mail, the whole “quitting” scenario was an inside job. An insider claimed the cast and crew had made up the rumor to “try and make Stern relevant again.”
“They’re desperately trying to make this thing to go viral to try to boost his numbers for his return on September 2,” the source added,
Howard has been with the company since 2006 and has become a fixture within the radio realm, interviewing Hollywood stars like Alec Baldwin, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jerry Seinfeld.
Howard has received high accolades for his show. He has won Billboard’s Nationally Syndicated Air Personality of the Year award eight consecutive times. He was also the first to have the #1 morning radio show in New York City and Los Angeles at the same time.
The Howard Stern Show airs weekdays at 7 a.m. EST on SiriusXM.
