Ashley Biden reflects on ‘hardest summer’ of her life after divorce drama

Ashley Biden is ready for “new beginnings” after accusing her estranged husband, Dr. Howard Krein, of having a girlfriend before she filed for divorce.

“The Summer of 2025 was one of the hardest summers of my life,” the former first daughter admitted in an Instagram post Tuesday, along with a slideshow of images from this past August.

Ashley, 44, explained that she is ready to turn over a new leaf as fall approaches.

“I have been preparing for the fall (my fav season) and now ready for the RISE 🦋,” she said.

She then expressed her gratitude for her friends and family who helped her through the difficult times before sharing how she has also helped herself.

“Grateful that i took the time/space to grieve, process, snd [sic] heal,” she added. “Grateful for peace of mind, new beginnings, new seasons, and a rediscovered strength and love for myself.”

In the photo dump, Ashley was seen hanging with her dog, enjoying a dip in the pool, and spending time with her parents, Joe and Jill Biden.

Ashley filed for divorce from Krein last month after 13 years of marriage. The social worker celebrated the end of her marriage by posting a since-deleted snap set to Beyoncé’s song, “Freedom.”

The day before she submitted a petition to dissolve their marriage, Ashley savagely posted a photo of a cozy couple on a walk with the caption, “My husband and his girlfriend holding hands ❤️.” 

She posted the sneaky snap — in which the identities of the people were unclear — along with Notorious B.I.G. and Lil’ Kim’s song, “Another,” which is about infidelity. Krein, 59, has yet to respond to the accusation.

As she is dealing with her breakup drama, Ashley is also struggling amid her dad’s cancer battle.

In May, former President Joe Biden confirmed in a statement that he had been diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones.

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management,” the statement read, adding that he and his family are exploring treatment options.

Ashley shared at the time that she was “Heartbroken yet HOPEFUL.” A month later, she defended her father, 82, against critics who accused the politician of hiding his ailing health.

“The ONLY coverup of this family is a BEACH coverup 🏖️ !!!” she said in a lengthy Instagram post on June 2. “The truth is, Dad gave his ALL to America and continues til this day. He NEVER gave up on you. And he listened to all of you. And he acted. The man has led his life by ACTIONS not words.”

She continued, “He aged, YES! As we all do! And the stress of the presidency accelerates. But he was always MORE than capable of doing the job. And a damn good one.”
