Cameron Diaz is having a “Bad Day,” and she’s doing it in New Jersey.
Diaz, who recently returned to acting, is starring in the Netflix action comedy.
The production, which will be filming locally this fall, is casting Jersey extras (see application info below).
The actor will play a single mom who is having the worst day while trying to keep a promise to her daughter, per a July Hollywood Reporter description of the film.
Diaz rose to fame in the ’90s, starring in movies like “There’s Something About Mary,” “The Mask,” “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” “A Life Less Ordinary” and “Being John Malkovich.”
She went on to star in “Shrek,” “The Holiday,” “Charlie’s Angels,” “Gangs of New York” and “Bad Teacher.”
Diaz took a break from acting starting in the 2010s after she appeared in “Annie,” released in 2014 (she played Miss Hannigan).

She married Benji Madden from the band Good Charlotte in 2015 and they welcomed a daughter, Raddix, in 2019 and a son, Cardinal, in 2024.
Diaz returned to film early this year in a Netflix movie that was actually titled “Back in Action,” playing one half of a married couple of former CIA agents opposite Jamie Foxx (her co-star from “Annie”).
Her new movie, “Bad Day,” is being directed by Jake Szymanski (“Jury Duty,” “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates”).
Diaz, 53, is also set to appear in the Jonah Hill-directed Apple TV+ film “Outcome” and reprise the role of Princess Fiona in “Shrek 5,” slated for a 2027 release.

The casting company tells NJ Advance Media that most of the production will take place in New Jersey.
The movie is currently in need of bicycle riders 18 and older who have their own bicycles for scenes being filmed in New Jersey, tentatively Sept. 29 and 30 and Oct. 2, 3, 6 and 8.
The Diaz movie is among the many Netflix film and TV titles filming in Jersey, including the upcoming Jennifer Lopez movie “The Last Mrs. Parrish,” which is also casting local extras, and Emmy winner Dan Levy’s (“Schitt’s Creek”) new series “Bad Mistakes,” which has been filming in Edison.
