Music brings joy, connection and vibrancy to a community. That’s especially true in Lafayette, a town that will take any excuse to host a party with a live band.
From gatherings like Downtown Alive! to Festivals Acadiens et Creoles, which is celebrating its 51st year this October, outdoor events in Louisiana typically revolve around music — and now, community members have the opportunity to vote to bring three years of free music to Lafayette, featuring a wide variety of genres and artists.
The final public voting phase is open now for Lafayette to receive the national Levitt Music Series Grant. If awarded, Lafayette would be granted up to $120,000 over three years (at $40,000 per year), for the purpose of hosting 10 outdoor concerts a year in a community space, beginning in 2026.
