Brash and hysterical comedian Margaret Cho has been making fans belly laugh since the ’90s, but few knew she had a secret talent up her sleeve. Recently the actress stepped onto the stage with none other than the legendary ’80s band The Go-Go’s and blew everyone away with a stunning performance.
Cho stepped in for Belinda Carlisle‘s part on their hit “Head Over Heels” and blew fans away with her sound and energy. Despite releasing a single in 2024, “Lucky Gift,” off her album title of the same name, a lot of folks had no idea that she harbored such musical talent.
What’s more, fans were blown away by how stunning she looks. Cho is roughly nine years sober, and after dealing with addiction and eating disorders, is focused on living a healthy lifestyle that fans are absolutely noticing.
“Ok there are just too many iconic things happening here,” quipped one fan.
“I had no idea you could sing too! All my favorites together! Go on tour please,” begged another.
“You look amazing and this is so cool,” complimented another.
“Omg Margaret Cho is Benjamin Button. She’s aging backwards,” added another.
Cho has been extremely open about her struggles with both opiate addiction and body image issues. In 2021, Cho talked to The Guardian about the incident in her 20s when producers asked her to drop weight for her role in All-American Girl. She lost 30 lbs in two weeks and sent her body into kidney failure.
“I have a lot of regret,” Cho confessed to the outlet, “because I did not appreciate how beautiful I was. I just thought I was fat and ugly and I was so angry about the way I looked.”
The Musack Rocks Rock and Roll Carnival Show
The show itself, which was held in late August, was part of the Musack Rocks Rock & Roll Carnival. It was essentially a benefit show for the organization that helps provide kids and teens as well as music teachers access to guitars, drums and support as needed in hopes of inspiring more artists. In addition to Cho, The Go-Go’s performed with other stars like Jack Black, Lisa Loeb, Fred Armisen and were joined by several teen acts like Sister Sister.
The Nantucket organization was founded by writer and producer Donick Cary who worked on Letterman, The Simpsons, Parks and Recreation and more.
What’s Going on With The Go-Go’s
As far as The Go-Go’s go, the groundbreaking band just wrapped their tour together and doesn’t plan on slowing down any time soon. With their original line-up intact (a feat many other ’80s bands have not accomplished) the band also has no intention of modernizing their sound, much to the relief of fans everywhere.
