The lead singer of a beloved rock band recently opened up about the group’s future.
Hayley Williams, vocalist and co-founder of Paramore, confirmed the band is on a break but not broken up in an interview with The Face that was published Thursday.
Williams, 36, released her third solo project, “Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party,” on August. 28 — sparking speculation that Paramore may have split up.
Although Paramore hasn’t released any new music since 2023, the “Misery Business” singer said the group always takes long breaks.
“In order for us to metabolize s— that we go through as people, it takes the amount of time it takes between albums,” Williams said.
Williams said it is vindicating knowing that Paramore is beloved but focusing on her solo projects is also important. She also tipped her hat to her bandmates Zac Farro and Taylor York, describing their synergy as “magic.”
“There are no better musicians in the world than Zac and Taylor,” Williams said. “There are no better performers than (the touring musicians affectionately known as the) Parafour. It’s just magic, man.”
Paramore was formed in Tennessee in 2004 by Williams, Farro and former guitarist Josh Farro. The pop-punk band achieved great commercial success after releasing its sophomore album “Riot!” in 2007. Some of Paramore’s biggest hits include “Ain’t It Fun,” “Still Into You” and “Decode.”
