Four of rock’s biggest names, past and present, will honor Ozzy Osbourne at the 2025 MTV VMAs.
Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt, and YUNGBLUD will salute the legendary rock star with a medley of his greatest hits, says an MTV press release. This unique performance will honor Osbourne’s contributions to the music industry and the world of heavy metal.
The tribute will take place six weeks after the singer’s death. Osbourne died of a heart attack on July 22, 2025 reported The New York Times.
Just weeks before, Osbourne performed on stage for the final time with his Black Sabbath bandmates. The Back to the Beginning concert was held on July 5, 2025, and the event took place at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, according to PEOPLE Magazine.

Tyler was in attendance at Osbourne’s final show, along with YUNGBLUD, who performed “Changes.” The bittersweet concert was the first time Black Sabbath performed together since 2017, to close out their The End Tour.
TODAY reported that the heavy metal legend addressed fans during the event, thanking them for their support throughout his career. “I don’t know what to say, man, I’ve been laid up for like six years. You have no idea how I feel — thank you from the bottom of my heart. You’re all … special. Let’s go crazy — come on!”
Ozzy Osbourne is survived by his wife, Sharon Osbourne, their three children, Aimee, Kelly, and Jack, and his grandchildren. From his marriage to Thelma Riley, he also has three older children, Jessica, Louis, and Elliot.
His family released a statement on Instagram after his death. It read, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”
The 2025 MTV VMAs air live on both CBS and MTV from New York’s UBS Arena on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. ET. The awards show also streams on Paramount+.
