After welcoming her first child into the world, Lauren Alaina is ready to embark on a new journey! The country music star and former American Idol frontrunner took to Instagram on Saturday, Sept. 6, where she revealed the new ambitious undertaking she plans to commit to — completing a 10K.
“What’s up?” Alaina, 30, asked her fans in the post, while dressed in an olive-green hoodie, telling her followers and fans that she had already begun training for the lengthy run six weeks ago. “I am training for a 10k. I started training at 10 weeks postpartum, 10k at 10 weeks.”

“I figured you’d like to follow along on my journey and see if I actually do it,” Alaina added before revealing, “My sister-in-law asked me to do a 10k with her. I downloaded an app that helps me go from zero running to running about six miles. I started a couple of weeks ago, and then I thought maybe you’d all like to hear about it, so I’m going to take you all on my run with me today.”
While filming the video, the Georgia-born artist also shared that she was taking a short break before her gig in Edgerton, Wis., to get out and pound some pavement. As a new mommy, Alaina added that her mother would be watching her child while she went on her jog, which found her completing six 90-second runs.
“The baby is taking a nap, and Mom is going to hang out on the bus with her. So I’m going to do a little ‘me time,’” Alaina explains in the clip. “I wish my ‘me time’ was getting a massage, but instead I’m going to go run. The first run is usually pretty easy, but after that, it’s like, ‘help!’”
While dashing through a small-town neighborhood completing the first interval, the “Road Less Traveled” singer shared that she had to pause her training because “My mom just called and the baby won’t nap and she thinks she’s hungry, so I’m going to go nurse her.”
Alaina was able to resume her running schedule five hours later, proving that she is fully determined to finish the future 10K.
“So it’s been four hours. I fed the baby twice, and I’m going to try to run again, five hours later,” Alaina shared, adding that each interval. “Gets a little harder, and a little easier because I know I’m getting closer.”
“Just finished my last run,” Alaina says at the end of the video. “OK. Now it’s time to cool down. Let’s go see the baby!”

“Girl!!!!! 10k??? I’m training for 5/k reindeer run in December. I’ll do that with ya !!!” Messina offered, to which Alaina replied, “I would love that!”
Alaina and her husband, Cam Arnold, welcomed their first baby, a daughter named Beni Doll Arnold, into the world in June. Since then, the singer/songwriter has hit the road, playing shows with both her baby girl and mother, Kristy Suddeth, in tow.

“I was so overwhelmed with the thought of going back on the road after having my daughter. I was scared. I was excited. I was dreading it. I couldn’t wait. Our newest member of the band is making our shows even better than before,” Alaina recently captioned an Instagram post, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look into what it’s like having a baby on board and her mom there to help out as she tours across the country. “I could not have done it without my momma out there taking care of us both.”
“I’m so proud to show my daughter that we can do anything our heart desires. I can be a momma and chase my dreams,” she added. “Thank you to everyone who showed up and reminded me how much I love this dream of mine. It felt so good to be back.”
