Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce aren’t attending tonight’s MTV VMAs.
Swift last attended the show in 2024.
For the 2025 ceremony, Swift has one nomination for Artist of the Year.
Taylor Swift is opting to stay off the awards show circuit and skip this year’s MTV VMAs in Elmont, New York. Ahead of the buzzy music event, E! confirmed the singer will not be at the ceremony.
Swift’s choice is understandable, as she was up for just one category this year—but a major one: Artist of the Year. Next year will likely be even bigger for the star, as her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl comes out on October 3 and will be eligible for awards.
Her fiancé, Travis Kelce, is also expected to miss the VMAs because the Kansas City Chiefs just played the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paolo, Brazil, on September 5. Swift didn’t attend the game and has been out of the public eye this week.
Swift spoke on Kelce’s New Heights podcast last month about how she has been spending her time off tour. (She finished her Eras Tour in December 2024.)
“It’s great because I’m getting my hobbies back,” she said. “When I was on tour, all I had the bandwidth for was, ‘What’s the acoustic mashup this week? How do I say welcome to the Eras Tour in Portuguese?’ That was the only thing taking up my brain space.”
Kelce cut in, subtly revealing he and Swift are living together. “It’s been so fun to see what Taylor actually gets into around the house,” he said.
“It’s like I’d say all my hobbies could be categorized as hobbies you could have had in the 1700s. I get all my granny shit,” she said, citing sewing and baking among her favorite activities.
“I love to paint. I love to cook. I have a different baking obsession every six months,” she continued. “Right now, we’re very deep in a sourdough obsession that has taken over my life.”
