Prince Harry is in the UK for the WellChild Awards, a charity that provides care for seriously ill children and young people, in which he’s been a patron since 2007.
Harry, 40, will be presenting at the awards ceremony, which just kicked off in the UK, 6pm local time.
The Duke of Sussex was seen arriving to the event, all smiles, and looking very sharp. He was seen in a full suit, pressing his jacket closed, clearly concerned about showing up and looking good for the event, matching up with the Archewell mantra: “Show up and do good.”
Before arriving in the UK, Prince Harry released a video putting a spotlight on the WellChild Award nominations.
In the video, he said: “Each year, the WellChild Awards, recognize and celebrate the growing number of young people with complex medical conditions across the United Kingdom, as well as those who go the extra mile to care for them.”
He’s also hoping to see his father while in town, which may add to his royal glow
The video was a call to action for the viewers to nominate the people who inspire them every single day, similar to that of the people being honored in tonight’s WellChild Awards.
Harry attended the ceremony last year, and at the time we spoke with royal expert Pauline Maclaran about his involvement.
Harry resigned from his royal duties, but he didn’t resign from his patronages, and according to Maclaran, a person doesn’t have to be a royal to be a patron, it’s just someone showing their support.
And in this case, Harry did show up, and since he is a public figure, and household name, it does help bring attention to the charity and their efforts.
