The 16-episode season premiered on Netflix on July 31 to some impressive numbers. It spent two weeks in the top 10 rankings for English-language programming on the streaming service and racked up 1.34 billion viewing minutes in that period of time. Still, fans were left hanging for weeks until Netflix finally shared an update.
Leanne shared a special message on social media, saying, “Okay, y’all, I have some exciting news. We have found out that we are getting season 2 of Leanne on Netflix! And I am so excited and I want to thank every one of you, each and every one of y’all for watching it over and over and sharing it and telling people about it. Y’all did this for me, so thank y’all.”
Fans left messages like, “Yay!!!!! Congratulations and well deserved. Season one is HILARIOUS and so good! ❤️👏” and “Good Decision Netflix!!!! Congratulations Leanne!!!!!” Another wrote, “Omg yes!! Exactly the news we all hoped for.”
