Jonathan Bailey is pumping the breaks on his acting career.
And its something that came as a big suprise for his adoring fans.
After a ton of successful projects that includes “Wicked,” “Jurassic World: Rebirth,” “Fellow Travelers,” and a slew of successful seasons on “Bridgerton,” the famous actor is looking to take a much-needed break.
“I’ve been working solidly for about three years now, which has been amazing and mind-blowing,” Bailey told British GQ in an interview published Sept. 3. “But with everything happening in the world right now, I’m going to stop acting for a bit next year and just focus on the Shameless Fund.”
The Shameless Fund, a U.K.-based charity was founded by the 37-year-old and raises funds for non-profit organizations supporting the LGBTQ+ community by partnering with global brands, which is how the Bailey’s viral “slutty little glasses” – a partnership with eyewear brand Cubitts – transpired.
“Over the next few months, I’ll be focusing on staffing and making sure we get all the right people in all the right places,” he continued. “There’s this statistic: out of every £100 raised in the U.K., only 1 [penny] goes to the LGBTQ+ community. You really have to dig to find solutions, and I genuinely think The Shameless Fund is exactly that.”
Other than the fund making a huge impact within the community, the famous actor views the fund and its partnerships as an outlet to be “fun and creative.” Also along for the ride to promote his recent collab with Cubitts were “Wicked” costar Cynthia Erivo and Scarlette Johanson.
Erivo wore a pair of rose-tinted spectacles and promoted the brand on her Instagram in August, while Johanson sported a pair recently in a sizzling shot with the “Bridgerton” star, who jokingly bit her neck while she struck a pose.
The “Avengers” star also took part in the fund’s sultry “Drink Your Milk” partnership with acclaimed fashion brand Loewe last year.
But before his Hollywood hiatus went into effect, Bailey pursued other ways to incorporate The Shameless Fund into his everyday life and that was being shameless about the color pink.
“When we’re working on the Shameless Fund, the colour pink is so important,” he detailed to the publication. “It’s an expression of joy and happiness, and it’s incredibly flattering—a reason why I wore it so much during the ‘Wicked’ press tour.”
