Rebecca Black revealed in a recent interview the shocking way she handled her tough schedule during Katy Perry’s Lifetimes Tour — having “gay sex.” The 28-year-old opened several concerts that were part of the tour throughout the summer. However, she also spent the intervening time DJing at music festivals. In addition, earlier this year, Black launched her second studio album, “Salvation.”

Rebecca Black talks about how she survived Katy Perry tour

The “Friday” artist gave an interview at the 2025 MTV VMAs red carpet event in New York’s PBS Arena. In it, she shared how she handled her hectic schedule for Katy Perry’s Lifetimes Tour.

“I have said it once, and I’ll say it again. It is the gay sex that I am so blessed to have that I can look forward to,” Rebecca Black told PEOPLE. When asked who she was having sex with, she replied without revealing her partner’s identity, “My girlfriend.”

Also in the interview, Black touched upon the work that went into crafting a show for the Lifetimes Tour. “It takes more than a village,” she stated. “It’s multiple cities of people who are working day and night to get these things up.” The DJ continued, “I can’t believe she trusts these girls to put her in the sky. It’s a lot.”

Black also described her novel experience performing for crowds of over 10,000 people. She recalled being “overstimulated” and “so scared” the first night. However, she eventually found the experience “redeeming” and viewed it as “just another show” towards the end. “It was so much fun,” she added. “But it was crazy.”

Black has teased that there was new music in development, but did not specify what the upcoming projects were. “I’m very close to being done, and I am really excited about the direction,” The “Sugar Water Cyanide” artist shared. “It’s dark. It’s s**y — definitely, definitely s**y.”
