Authorities in Los Angeles are investigating the discovery of a decomposed body in an impounded Tesla reportedly registered to the singer and songwriter D4vd.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department told Entertainment Weekly that officers responded to reports of a “foul odor” coming from a vehicle in a Hollywood tow yard around 12:40 p.m. Monday, and arrived to discover “possible human remains.” The identify of the remains is currently unknown.
The police spokesperson did not identify the owner of the car, but several local news outlets, including the Los Angeles Times and ABC 7 News, have reported that the car is registered in Hempstead, Texas, to D4vd, 20, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke. ABC 7 additionally reported that the vehicle had been in the lot for several days, and that the remains were found in a bag in the front trunk of the car.
On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the singer told NBC4 News that D4vd, who is currently on tour, had been “informed about what’s happened” and was “fully cooperating with the authorities.”
Representatives for D4vd didn’t immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly’s request for comment.

D4vd is known for viral singles like “Here With Me” and “Romantic Homicide,” which have each surpassed 1.5 billion streams on Spotify. He recently kicked off a world tour supporting his debut album, Withered, and is slated to perform Tuesday night in Minneapolis. The North American leg of his tour is scheduled to wrap up in Los Angeles on Sept. 20.
