A body recovered after a motorist drove over the rim of the Grand Canyon over the weekend has been identified as a Colorado man, park officials said.
The National Park Service said rangers received a report at around 12:40 p.m. Sunday that a vehicle with a single occupant had gone over the rim near the South Kaibab Trailhead. Rangers responded immediately to the scene, and located the body about 300 feet below the rim.
A photo shared by the National Park Service shows crews on the rim using a rope system to reach the body in the canyon below. After the body was recovered, it was transferred to the Coconino County Medical Examiners Office for identification.
The man was identified as 27-year-old Steven “Drew” Bradley of Federal Heights, Colo.
The incident remains under investigation by the National Park Service in coordination with the Coconino County Medical Examiner.
