Morgan Wallen left spectators stunned after he hurled a baseball bat at former Major League Baseball star Jose Bautista’s wife.
The country music sensation was performing at Toronto’s Rogers Center during his I’m The Problem tour and decided to bring former Blue Jays power hitter Jose along as he made his entrance from backstage.
Things took a turn when Morgan attempted to wow the audience by mimicking Jose’s iconic bat flip and the stunt went terribly wrong.
After the six-time All-Star handed him the bat, the performer took a swing before tossing it aside. The maneuver may have looked seamless to concert-goers, but what they didn’t see was that the bat had actually sailed through the air and struck Jose’s wife, Neisha, who was filming the onstage moment on her phone.
In footage posted to her Instagram story, she could be heard screaming as the bat hit her and seemed to drop her device in shock. A person beside her was then heard asking, “S—. You okay?”
Morgan admitted that being recognized everywhere makes it difficult to unwind.
“It’s still weird, and there are parts of that that I don’t like,” the 31-year-old singer confessed. “I think anybody who has to deal with that … it’s not ideal.
“It’s not ideal to go everywhere, and even if you don’t get bothered, you were on edge the whole time because you thought you might,” he added.
“There are things that you just don’t do. There are just things you don’t do anymore.”
He shared that he now prefers hunting trips with friends over public outings to avoid the stress.
“I can go be with my buddies. I can be in the middle of nowhere. I can be at ease. I can not stress out. You just find ways to supplement it, I think, you know?”
