Bryan Fuller recently shared details about the potential return of Hannibal Season 4. In an interview, the creator explained the challenges delaying the series and confirmed the cast’s interest in reprising their roles. He said ongoing rights issues delay the show’s future but stressed the team’s commitment to continue the story.

Bryan Fuller says Hannibal cast wants to return for Season 4

In an interview with ScreenRant, Bryan Fuller said the show cannot move forward due to unresolved rights issues. Fuller explained, “It’s complicated now because Martha De Laurentiis died and she had a certain section of the rights, and now, Thomas Harris is trying to get the rights all under one umbrella. And I think that’s going to take a couple of years of straightening out.”

The series was based on Thomas Harris’ novels Red Dragon (1981), Hannibal (1999), and Hannibal Rising (2006). It aired from 2013 to 2015. The story followed Will Graham, a criminal profiler, and his complex relationship with Dr. Hannibal Lecter, played by Mads Mikkelsen. The show earned praise for its acting, writing, and visual style. Despite the acclaim, it ended after three seasons in August 2015, sparking fan campaigns for a fourth season.

Fuller said the cast is ready to return once the rights are resolved. “But the entire cast wants to come back: Mads, Hugh, Lawrence, Katie, Caroline – like everybody’s in. It’s just a matter of: Will the rights be able to be figured out again?” he stated. This confirmation shows the actors remain committed to the project, but no networks or streaming services have announced any deals.

The uncertain timeline reflects the broader challenges of adapting Harris’ work, with different rights holders managing aspects of the franchise. Fuller acknowledged that sorting out these legal complexities may take “a couple of years.”

Still, the commitment of the cast keeps the possibility of Hannibal Season 4 alive, even as the franchise’s future depends on unifying control of its rights.
