In this scene, Geralt, Jaskier, Milva, Cahir, and Regis pause to cook fish soup. The show gives the moment significant screen time. It also uses it as a setting for character backstories and flashbacks.
The episode transforms into a small-scale musical during Jaskier’s flashback. Instead of only Jaskier singing, multiple characters sing and dance. Valdo Marx joins the sequence and reveals the origins of his long-running rivalry with Jaskier. The show addresses their animosity directly for the first time.
Alongside Jaskier’s musical, the episode introduces flashbacks to younger versions of key characters. Aaron Zicman plays young Cahir, while Leanne Ho portrays young Milva.
