đ Happy Friday!
Saturday and Sunday mornings are forecasted to be a little more pleasant than what’s usual for this time of year, a great morning for a walk or yard work … hopefully without the soundtrack of a loud gas-powered weed-eater at 7:30 a.m.
Yard obsessers, let’s agree to enjoy a little quiet time with our coffee (or sleep-in).
đșEmmys nab Nargatze and get satirical
Nicole Beharie, left, Reese Witherspoon and Nestor Carbonell in “The Morning Show.”
Those of us who retreated indoors from June to August to binge-watch new series got some gems, such as the feel-good and sassy-clever “Leanne” on Netflix and the soul-searching foodie juggernaut “The Bear” on FX/Hulu.
If it gets too rainy outside, “The Morning Show” returns for a fourth season on Apple TV+ on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
Which reminds me, Hollywood and the media sure love mocking themselves. Satirical TV will figure prominently at the 2025 Emmy Awards Sunday night, featuring first-time host, comedian Nate Bargatze.
“The Studio,” a hilariously edgy series spoofing the movie industry with a star-studded cast, is predicted to rack up some gold statues (though I prefer the warmer, more easygoing “Platonic,” another Seth Rogen comedy, but with the Judd Apatow/”Freaks and Geeks” vibe that made him famous; also on Apple TV+).
As for best drama, you know I’m rooting for the Star Wars origin epic “Andor,” though I think the workplace nightmare “Severance” has a better shot.
đMore of what’s going on
Wildlife drive closed this weekend but trail is open: While it’s unfortunate timing that the St. Johns River Water Management District will temporarily close the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive this weekend (Sept. 13-14) to work on slope-stabilization along sections of the drive, the Lake Apopka Loop Trail will remain open to pedestrians and bicycles and is not affected by the construction activity.
We’re over the hurricane hump … will our good luck continue? The peak of hurricane season has arrived and is behind us. It was Sept. 10, the middle of what would usually be the busiest time of hurricane season. Are we in the clear?  Forecasters are watching tropical waves, such as one off the African coast over the next couple of days, which has a low chance for development.
