Country music is taking center stage at this year’s Emmy Awards in an extremely important way. Current country superstar Lainey Wilson and country legend Vince Gill are set to perform Gill’s iconic ballad “Go Rest High on That Mountain” during the In Memoriam segment of the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, airing live Sunday, September 14, on CBS and Paramount+.
The pair revealed the news on Instagram, with Wilson writing, “So looking forward to performing ‘Go Rest High On That Mountain’ with @vincegillofficial for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards this Sunday at 8/7c,” along with a photo and a video clip of them rehearsing. Fans immediately flooded the comments with emotional reactions:
“This song just got 10x more emotional for me 🥺,” wrote one fan, while another added, “Ugh this hits hard 🤍” A third fan wrote, “Gonna cry. I do every time I hear this.”
