Dakota Johnson Goes Sheer in Gucci, Salma Hayek & More at Kering Dinner

A string of celebrities and high-profile figures styled designer threads for their attire to the Kering Foundation’s fourth annual Caring for Women dinner in New York City on Thursday. Pieces by Gucci, Bottega Veneta and a selection from McQueen’s fall 2025 ready-to-wear collection lined the arrival carpet.

Dakota Johnson led the Gucci brigade, one of several designs by the Italian luxury fashion house. Her look united the dark, glamorous vibe of the event, with Julianne Moore, Salma Hayek and more styling formal black dresses. Ahead, WWD breaks down those looks and more.

Johnson married the ubiquity of a red carpet sheer dressing moment with ornate embroidery in her Gucci look. The “Splitsville” star wore a formfitting, long-sleeve dress with a short train, featuring completely sheer fabric with botanical-inspired embroidery throughout. The actress’ look was curated by award-winning stylist Kate Young.

Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain, who also wore Gucci, brought a pop of color to the arrival carpet. The Oscar-winning actress wore a strapless lilac gown with a short train, featuring allover delicate lace detailing. The look included some semi-sheer elements at the bodice, just beneath the sweetheart neckline. Scalloped patterning and florals featured throughout the feminine piece, curated by Chastain’s stylist Elizabeth Stewart.

Ariana DeBose

Ariana DeBose’s McQueen look brought a regal touch to Thursday’s dinner. The actress’ monochrome ensemble included a long dress with a drop waist and contrasting fabric, along with a voluminous coat with statement shoulders and textural fabric. A metallic silver added another standout element to the “West Side Story” Oscar winner’s attire, featured as a long ornamental addition to the end of her sleeve.

Julianne Moore

Moore’s approach married her understated elegance with Bottega Veneta’s designs. The actress wore a sleeveless, black, floor-length dress to the dinner, coordinating it with metallic silver accessories, including statement earrings and a clutch.

Salma Hayek

Hayek’s Balenciaga dress featured subtle nods to suited styling. The “Frida” star wore a column gown with a sleeveless, halter and sweetheart neckline. The waistline of the dress featured buttons, adding a variation to the tailoring while incorporating an element that emphasized the silhouette.

Demi Moore

Demi Moore’s Gucci frock featured allover sparkling sequins. The long-sleeve, high-neckline dress included a thigh-high slit and formfitting silhouette that accentuated “The Substance” Oscar nominee’s frame. She coordinated the dark glamour look with a pair of pointed-toe heels. Moore’s attire was curated by her longtime stylist Brad Goreski.

The Kering Foundation’s fourth annual Caring for Women dinner featured a host committee that included Hayek and Madonna. The gala supports organizations that address gender-based violence against women.
