Savannah Guthrie got a new haircut from celebrity stylist Chris McMillan on Sept. 11
Guthrie previously cited McMillian’s famous ’90s haircut, “the Rachel,” as her inspiration back in the day
McMillan said he gave four haircuts to Today show staffers before 9 a.m.
Savannah Guthrie’s ‘90s dreams have come true!
Just days after being confronted with an image of her Arizona reporting days on the Today plaza, Guthrie, 53, decided to recruit celebrity hair stylist Chris McMillian to give her a fresh chop.
Coincidentally — or not — McMillian is the man behind Jennifer Aniston’s iconic ‘90s hairstyle, “the Rachel,” from her Friends days, which Guthrie previously cited as her inspiration in her early days as a reporter.
“It was very ‘90s, I think I tried to have ‘the Rachel,’ ” Guthrie said, when a fan showed off a photo from her time in Tucson, Ariz.

On Thursday, Sept. 11, McMillian stopped by the Today show to give Guthrie her own personal cut, showing off her new layered lob. He also trimmed Jenna Bush Hager’s chic bob, which he gave her live on TV back in June. He rounded out his day by completing two fan transformations on Today with Jenna & Friends.
“4 haircuts before 9am and the MOST FUN morning with @jennaandfriends and everyone at the @todayshow ✂️ thank you so much for having me and can’t wait to share more! 💙” McMillan posted on Instagram.

In the photos and videos, Aniston’s longtime hairstylist posed with Guthrie and Bush Hager, showing off their styled looks.
Guthrie posted a video with McMillan embracing her new ‘do, writing on the clip, “I did a thing w @chrismcmillan,” adding in the caption, “of course I did ✂️.”
The Today co-anchor previously revealed that her significantly lighter hair color isn’t her natural look. In fact, the nearly black hair she sported early in her career is her original hair color.

“That’s my natural hair color,” Guthrie admitted of the image shown on the plaza. “Let’s change the subject.”
She also teased that the longtime fan could “burn” the image she’d brought.
