Admission and parking for the festival are free for all attendees.
WAUPUN – Waupun’s annual German festival is here.
This year, Volksfest will be Sept. 12 and 13 at Tanner Park, 510 W. Spring St., with free admission and parking to access all the food, music, vendors and activities the event has to offer.
Here’s what to know about the festival.
New for 2025 is the car show at the park
Usually hosted in the Ice Arena, Volksfest will be in a tent outside with a rented dance floor, and some new activities have been added to the schedule alongside the event.
One new addition to the festival is a car show, sponsored by My Property Shoppe. Cars will be out in the Tanner Park parking lot from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 13.
At the same time, the festival has also added a vendor market, inviting artists, makers and small business owners to share their wares.
Local beer and food available throughout the event
Both days of Volksfest will feature food, desserts, beer and wine to indulge in — and fuel the dancing.
Fox Lake Snowmobile Club will provide food service starting at 4 p.m. Friday, and Pella Lutheran Church will take care of dessert starting at 3 p.m. Both will serve food all day Saturday.
German beer and wine, including flights, will also be available and feature local breweries in the selection.
Friday features a fish fry and Copper Box
Friday’s activities start with all-ages Bingo at 3 p.m. with prizes before Copper Box takes the stage at 5 p.m. with a blend of polka, rock and blues music.
Contests for the first day include a challenge for who can hold a beer stein the longest and Hammerschlagen, where participants compete to hammer nails into a stump.
In addition to the other food, Fox Lake Snowmobile Club will host a fish fry starting at 5 p.m.
Saturday activities start with pancake breakfast
Waupun Kiwanis Club will start off Saturday with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m., and the Warrior Blaskapelle ensemble from the Waupun High School band will perform at 9 a.m.
Other live music acts for Saturday are Carol and the Keynotes at 11 a.m., Apolkalypse at 3 p.m. and The Mark Jirikovec Band at 4 p.m.
Hammerschlagen and stein holding contests return, with the addition of a Stumpf Fiddle Contest at 2 p.m., showing off the folk instrument.
More than 30 years strong, Volksfest is supported by local businesses, including this year’s headliner sponsor, Home Sweet Home Real Estate.
