For the past few years, Netflix has been the center of new and hot K-content, but now the streamer has reportedly introduced a cap on Korean actors’ fees. Stars like Byeon Woo-seok will now face a pay ceiling of around 400 million Krw to 300 million Krw per episode.
Even though the new standard is still a pretty hefty sum, according to the Osen investigation, this is being done to reduce over-inflated production costs and fees that were till now uncontrollable (via The Chosun Daily). But at the same time, this movie is sparking debate about whether this cap will limit creativity and prevent some of Korea’s top stars from committing to Netflix projects.
