Renée Zellweger could have looked like movie royalty at the 2025 Emmys, but sadly, she chose to skip this year’s ceremony.
As the actors assembled at Los Angeles’s Peacock Theater, Zellweger was notably missing. Truthfully, it would have been a rare red-carpet appearance for the star, who tends to lie low when she’s not promoting a movie. In fact, Zellweger does not live in L.A., but rather bought a home in Southern California, near San Diego, to be close to her longtime boyfriend, Ant Anstead, and his son.
Zellweger was recognized at tonight’s Emmys as an executive producer for Outstanding Television Movie for Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy—the latest film in the Bridget Jones universe (before the ceremony even started, she was already announced as the winner, marking her first Emmy win).
The actor was, however, was snubbed of an individual acting nomination despite her iconic role as our beloved grown-up Bridget in the film. So, it makes sense that she would choose to pass on walking the Emmys red carpet and attending the ceremony.
While it was believed that Zellweger would be taking the stage tonight to present an award, no such thing occurred. The actress was, however, seen at other Emmy season events earlier this year, including an Emmy season kick-off luncheon hosted by NBCUniversal and an Emmy roundtable discussion for the Los Angeles Times that took place in June.
