Lil Nas X has entered treatment after he was arrested and charged with four felony counts last month.

The rapper, 26, has sought care at an undisclosed facility outside of California, his lawyer confirmed on Monday, September 15, according to Rolling Stone.

“Defendant is allowed to remain out of state as long as he remains in treatment,” Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Shellie Samuels said, noting that if Lil Nas X’s “treatment changes and he becomes outpatient, then we’ll talk.”

The details surrounding Lil Nas X’s care are sealed, and the next hearing has been set for November, the outlet reported.

Lil Nas X’s lawyer Drew Findling gave an update on his client after the hearing.

“You heard the ‘treatment’ word. We’re doing what is best for Montero from a personal standpoint and a professional standpoint, but most importantly, for his well-being,” Findling said outside the courthouse, as seen in a video shared via X. “He is surrounded by an amazing family, an amazing team of people that care about him and love him. And we’re just addressing those issues. It’s really as simple as that. He’s had a great life, and he’ll continue to have a great life. This is a bump that he’s going to get over.”

Lil Nas X (born Montero Lamar Hill) was arrested and hospitalized on August 21 after he was found roaming in his underwear on Ventura Boulevard in Los Angeles. He allegedly attempted to batter an officer when confronted by authorities.

The L.A. County District Attorney charged the “Industry Baby” rapper with four felonies, including three counts of battery on a police officer and one count of resisting arrest, on August 25. Lil Nas X pleaded not guilty.

Lil Nas X’s father, Robert Stafford, denied that his son was using “illegal drugs” prior to his arrest while speaking to reporters on August 25. He also said that Lil Nas X was “in good spirits” and doing “alright” following his arrest.

“He’s very remorseful for what happened, but it can happen to any family. He’s going to get the help that he needs,” Stafford said. “And just keep him in your prayers. Give him the same grace and mercy that God gives everyone.”

Stafford later reflected on his emotional visit to his son in an August 29 interview with London’s The Times.

“I went to visit him in jail and as soon as I walked through that door, I couldn’t do anything but cry,” he said. “To see my baby boy on the other side of that glass. We shed tears with each other for a minute. And I had to tell him that ‘what you’re going through is normal.’ We all have breakdowns every now and then, but the difference is, yours get played out in the public eye.”

“When I went to visit, he asked me to say, ‘Tell everybody I’m sorry they saw me like that,’” Stafford continued. “Even in that moment, he was apologizing to people for something he was going through.”

Judge Sarah Ellenberg in Van Nuys set Lil Nas X’s bail at $75,000, and he was released on bond on August 25. He broke his silence regarding his arrest the following day.

“You girl is going to be OK, y’all,” he said in a video shared via his Instagram Stories. “She’s going to be alright. She’s going to be alright. S***. That was f***ing terrifying. That was terrifying. That was a terrifying last four days, but your girl is going to be alright.”
