Charlie Sheen is leaving no stone unturned while delving into gory detail about his sordid past – and it’s all too much for long-suffering dad Martin Sheen.
An insider tells Star that Martin, 85, is begging the reformed wild man to “grow up and get serious for once in his life.”
“Charlie’s enjoying the excitement surrounding his book and taking a victory lap for all his atrocious behavior; he’s certainly not apologizing for it,” the insider says. “He’s making jokes out of what was a dark time, not only for him, but for his loved ones, his dad especially. The way he took a swipe at Martin was insensitive to say the least.”
On September 10, Charlie, 60, released his memoir, The Book of Sheen, and while promoting the book, he discussed the moment he realized his dad had turned him in to the police for a parole violation in 1998 after he overdosed on drugs.
“It felt like the biggest betrayal you can possibly endure,” the Two and a Half Men alum told Michael Strahan on Good Morning America of his father’s actions. “I saw it as love eventually, but in the moment, it’s like in the book when my bodyguard comes to the door and he says, ‘The U.S. Marshalls are on the way. We’re leaving in 5.’”

The West Wing alum “doesn’t want to deprive Charlie of his success for having written the book,” notes the insider, but he’s annoyed by “how Charlie brags about all the drugs and hookers he had.”
“Martin wants Charlie to grow up and get a grip,” adds the insider. “He’d like to see Charlie own up to his mistakes in a more professional manner.”
