A beloved face from The Good Wife universe will make a return in Elsbeth Season 3. The character, who became a staple in both the original series and its spin-off The Good Fight, is set to rejoin the storyline this fall. Sarah Steele’s Marissa Gold to return in Elsbeth Season 3
Sarah Steele becomes the second actor from The Good Wife/The Good Fight universe to appear in the spin-off, following Christian Borle’s Season 2 role as Carter Schmidt. Steele, Borle, and series star Carrie Preston remain the only three actors who feature across all three shows in The Good Wife franchise (via Deadline).
Steele first appeared as Marissa Gold in The Good Wife Season 2. She played the daughter of Eli Gold (Alan Cumming) and assisted Peter Florick (Chris Noth) during political controversies. She later became a series regular in The Good Fight, where Marissa worked as a private investigator. In Elsbeth, Steele will once again play Marissa Gold in Season 3.
The new season premieres Sunday, October 12 on CBS. Episodes will also be available on Paramount+. The show follows Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston), an unconventional attorney who works with the NYPD on high-profile cases.
Carra Patterson, who portrayed Kaya Blanke in the first two seasons, returns as a guest star after her character’s promotion in the Season 2 finale. Wendell Pierce continues in his role as Captain Charles Wallace.
The guest lineup includes Stephen Colbert as late-night host Scotty Bristol. Andy Richter plays his sidekick Mickey Muntz, and Amy Sedaris appears as Laurel Hammond-Muntz, executive producer of Way Late.
Lindsay Mendez will portray Officer Grace Hackett, while Annaleigh Ashford stars in a Halloween episode as Sharon Norman, a violent, suburban homemaker. William Jackson Harper joins as the director of a New York poetry journal, while Lois Smith also plays a key role.
Elsbeth Season 3 brings Steele’s Marissa Gold back into the story, adding to a star-filled cast and continuing the franchise’s expansion this October.
