An Emmy-award winning actor and a Buffalo broadcasting hall of famer are bringing legendary author and humorist Mark Twain to life on two Southern Tier stages this fall.
In Elmira, the Clemens Center will host two performances of “Mark Twain Tonight!” on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 14-15 at 7:30 p.m.
Screen star Richard Thomas, who won an Emmy Award for his lead role as “John-Boy Walton” in the beloved CBS Television drama “The Waltons,” stars as Twain in a performance written and originally performed by actor Hal Holbrook.
A performance of Mark Twain Live will take place at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 25 at the Nancy Howe Auditorium in Wellsville. Tickets are $10.
In Wellsville, Mike Randall, long-time senior meteorologist at WKBW-TV Channel 7 in Buffalo, will perform “Mark Twain Live” at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 25 in the Nancy Howe Auditorium.
Randall began impersonating America’s greatest author at the age of 17, with his first show in May 1972 at Rosary Hill College (now Daemen College) in Buffalo.
Tickets for both shows are currently on sale.

How to get tickets for ‘Mark Twain Live’ at Howe Auditorium
Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the Main Desk of the David A. Howe Library, 155 N. Main St., or at the door the night of the show.
The evening is a fundraiser for the library.

Thomas best known for portrayal of Walton clan’s eldest son
Thomas is the first and only actor authorized to perform Holbrook’s original creation, which has played more 2,300 performances, to an audience of more than 2 million people nationwide.
While Thomas’ career-defining role came as the eldest of the Walton children in Depression era Virginia, he is most recognizable to contemporary television audiences for his roles in the hit series “Ozark,” “The Americans,” “Billions,” and the original Stephen King mini-series “It.”
Thomas was most recently seen on Broadway in “Our Town,” on tour as Atticus Finch in “To Kill a Mockingbird,” and on Netflix’s “Ozark,” and recently named as a 2025 Theater Hall of Fame inductee.
Next year marks the 60th anniversary of the Broadway premiere of “Mark Twain Tonight!”

Randall racks up 2,000 performances of ‘Mark Twain Live!’
Randall earned AP and UPI awards during his tenure as senior meteorologist with Channel 7. He was inducted into the Buffalo Broadcasting Hall of Fame in September 2017.
Prior to WKBW-TV, Randal worked as a co-host of PM Magazine at WFSB-TV in Hartford, Conn. and at WDBJ-TV in Roanoke, Va.
.A television career highlight for Randall was filling in on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
Randall, with more than 2,000 performances as Twain, last brought this show to Wellsville in September 2022.
“Mark Twain Live!” was endorsed by the Mark Twain Museum of Buffalo and Randall was the official Mark Twain of The Annual Huck Finn Jubilee in Victorville, Calif. for a decade, and the Annual Mark Twain Birthday Bash & Symposium in Buffalo.
