Jen Affleck is “scared” to compete on Dancing with the Stars after a “traumatic” reality TV experience.
The Hulu star, 26, is set to make her debut on the hit reality competition show tonight. Just before the season premiere, she is opening up about the preparation she took to get to this moment.
Jen, who has been paired with a new pro with A-list ties, revealed she’s hitting the dance floor as a complete newbie to the professional dancing realm.
Jen told Yahoo that her only experience was from her Hispanic background where she grew up dancing at paries and “on countertops.”
After her first week of rehearsals, Jen was covered in bruises and blisters. She was left shocked at how vigorous the preparation was.
The show’s challenging nature, however, is helping her “get out of the rut.”
She confessed the show is “filling my cup” and has helped her feel “more inspired in life,” which has translated into giving more of herself to her family and the world.
Her family is the main reason she committed to the show.
“I think that’s why I’m doing everything that I’m doing — so I can show them that I did the scary thing,” she added. “It’s daunting … being in a place where people can judge you. But I realized the key to success is being able to cringe at yourself, and also just being OK with being uncomfortable.”
Jen has been paired with the show’s new pro Jan Ravnik, who has already gained some attention for being a backup dancer at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
