Although becoming a mother for the third time is an exciting time for Eugenie, the state of her relationship with her parents is set to be a lingering thought in the back of her mind. Sarah, 66, is known to be a doting grandmother, and has previously spoken about her love for her four grandchildren – as well as her step-grandson Wolfie.
It was previously reported that Eugenie had cut ties with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor due to the scandal surrounding him involving his relationship with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein (he denies all wrongdoing), with her current relationship with her mother remaining unknown.
The birth of Eugenie’s third baby will likely show her true feelings towards her mother – with her involvement in her latest grandchild’s life being “up to her daughter”, according to a royal expert.
Jennie Bond told the Mirror: “We do know that Fergie has been a doting grandmother in the past to her four little grandchildren, and I’m sure she would be heartbroken if she were excluded from this wonderful new episode in Eugenie and Jack’s life.
“But it’s going to be up to her daughter, who lives much of her life in Portugal these days.”
Ms Bond also shared that she thinks Eugenie and Jack may release a picture of their newest bundle of joy – but that some members of the family will likely not be included.
She added: “I think the couple will issue a photo of the new arrival in the fullness of time, but I certainly don’t expect to see either Andrew or Sarah included in that photo.”
As well as revealing that the baby would be born this summer, the statement sharing Eugenie’s pregnancy news also discussed that her two young sons were “excited” for a new sibling.
The statement read: “His Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news.”
