Marvel’s most hyped 2026 series will pick up the story of the restored android following WandaVision. Guided by showrunner Terry Matalas, best known for 12 Monkeys and Star Trek: Picard, the Disney+ project brings back Paul Bettany in the lead role. The ensemble also features James Spader, Todd Stashwick, Faran Tahir, T’Nia Miller, Orla Brady, Emily Hampshire, and Mary McDonnell, with Ruaridh Mollica rumored to join as well.
Rumor hints Marvel’s Vision series could have something in common with Nova
On The Hot Mic podcast, Jeff Sneider revealed details he had heard about the production of Marvel’s Vision series. He said, “I’ve heard that ‘Vision’ is great. And that the showrunner, Terry Matalas, I heard that he may end up working on Nova. He may end up getting an overall deal at Marvel.”
This aligns with Marvel Studios’ history of retaining creative talent across projects. Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead transitioned from Moon Knight to Loki Season 2, later taking part in overhauling Daredevil: Born Again.
Matalas’s potential work on Nova ties directly to Marvel’s cosmic side. Marvel has discussed the Nova project for years but has not confirmed whether it will be a film or a series. In early 2025, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s Head of Streaming, Television and Animation, confirmed that Marvel paused Nova.
He explained on the Phase Hero podcast, “When we develop something, the material might be really great, but the timing might be wrong.” He added that Marvel does not necessarily cancel projects on hold but requires them to be ready to sustain multiple seasons if produced.
The link between Vision and Nova reportedly comes from Matalas’s track record and Marvel’s practice of expanding the roles of showrunners who earn Kevin Feige’s confidence. If Matalas transitions to Nova, the rumored overlap between the two projects may shape part of the post-Secret Wars MCU roadmap.
Also titled Vision Quest, the series is slated to premiere in 2026.
