Rising country music star Spencer Hatcher returned to social media recently after taking off more than a month following the killing of his mother, Holly Hatcher, in her Virginia home.

Holly, who was 62, was stabbed to death during a home invasion on Aug. 3.

Spencer Hatcher posted the next day about a “monumental loss” in his family and then went silent on social media.

He has now returned with a video showing his appreciation for his fans and their support in the heartbreaking time.

“Spencer here,” he said to start the video which shows him seated in a rocking chair. “I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for all the love and support that you all have shown me and my family over the last month. In what has really been the worst time of our life, you all sent so many loving comments and messages and made posts and everything. We did our best to read them, but I just want you all to know how appreciative we are and I am of you all.”

The young singer then talked some about his mother.

“You know my mom was my biggest fan, and my biggest supporter in everything that I did,” he said. “But she was also … she loved the music, everything about it. She loved the music. She loved the shows. And after a lot of thought and prayer and speaking to my label about continuing, you know, I 100 percent made the decision that I want to continue making music and bringing smiles to people’s faces and being out on the stage and everything. But I’m doing it a lot because I know that is what my mom would want me to do. She would want me to keep on, and I know how much she loved it, and I know how much y’all love it. So, I’m not going to quit. I’m going to keep on. I’m going to go as hard as I possibly can, and I want you all to come along on this journey with me. As I get back into it, you know, I’m going to be posting a bunch more, but I just appreciate you all and all that you have done for me and will continue to do for me.”

Hatcher said that he had a “pretty big schedule” before the incident took place, and he looks forward to trying to revive that and make as many of the appearances as he can.

“I’m real excited for it,” he said. “You know, like I said, I know that my mom was real excited about all the opportunities, and all the music, and I hope that you all are just as excited about it as she was. So, again, thank you all so much for everything. Thank you for your support in the future, and I hope that one day we can all be together where I can thank you personally.

“I love y’all. God bless.”

According to multiple reports, 41-year-old Kevin Walker entered the Hatcher home and stabbed Holly to death before attacking her husband, Michael Hatcher. Michael was able to get free and was able to get a handgun out of his car that he used to shoot and kill Walker.

Rockingham Country police said they found Hatcher suffering from “visible injury” when they responded.

“There’s no way for you to know the trauma and the pain and the unanswered questions that I have had (and) that my three sons, Dane, Spencer and Connor have had,” Michael said in a video statement. “Each of you have made it much more bearable through your outpouring of love and your caring and your kindness and support to all of us, and for that, I thank you so much.”

Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson said it was a “highly unusual, apparently completely random (attack) with an individual with no known history of violent behavior of any kind, or even criminal behavior of any kind.

“With 31 years in law enforcement for me, I have never seen anything like it in my career.”
