Millions of onlookers around the world have tuned in to see Donald Trump meet with King Charles III for his second state visit the UK.
Apparently, however, it didn’t take long for the Republican to break major royal protocol, setting tongues wagging online.
Joined by wife Melania, the US President arrived at Windsor Castle moments ago, where he was greeted by Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The couple then escorted the Trumps to the palace, where they were joined by Charles and Camilla, with the group of six filmed chatting amongst one another. They were subsequently bundled into a royal carriage before receiving a military escort through the garden to the central residence.
Upon their arrival at the latter, they were met by several hundred official UK soldiers.

In controversial live footage, however, the President was seen walking several steps ahead of the British monarch, chatting to a member of the military. Charles, meanwhile, appeared somewhat frustrated to be walking behind him.
Taking to social media after noticing the colossal misstep, one user penned: “Donald trump leading the British army and walking in front of the king says it all.” Another joked: “Trump leads. Charles submits.”
One fan of the right-wing leader added, however: “Once again Trump walks in front of the Charles because he is the true King.”
A fourth hit out, though: “King Charles is walking behind President Trump while inspecting the guard. That’s not the tradition.”
“Loved how the king had to thump trump on the back to move him along,” wrote another.
During the course of his stay in the UK, Charles and Camilla will invite Trump to inspect the guard of honour, as well as to view a number of US-related items from the Royal Collection.

Following a state lunch, the American, 79, will then visit St George’s Chapel, where he plans to lay a wreath on the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II, who hosted he and Melania during his first term in 2019.
Later in the day, the group will be joined by British Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, where a number of political conversations are expected to take place.
“First of all, [there are] difficult discussions potentially on Ukraine, because the American proposal seems to be: if we Europeans want America to put more pressure on Putin, we need to be prepared to levy heavy tariffs on China and India over their oil purchases from Russia,” Lord Kim Darroch – who previously served as the UK’s ambassador to the States – previously told Sky News of these talks.
“We all want to put pressure on Putin, but that proposal is very, very tricky.”
In the evening, Trump, the royals and the PM will enjoy a musical performance by the chapel choir, before attending a Beating Retreat ceremony on the lawn, which will include a military flypast.
