No need to mourn for lack of news about the upcoming Wicked movie. The second film in the musical duology, titled Wicked: For Good, just revealed its soundtrack — and with it, the titles of the film’s brand-new original songs from the Broadway musical’s composer, Stephen Schwartz.
The first Wicked film hit theaters to much fanfare last November, with its second part heading to cinemas on Nov. 21, 2025. The films are based on the hit Broadway musical, which itself was based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 book. It explores the origin story of the Wicked Witch of the West from Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz, painting her as a misunderstood heroine.
In the film, Cynthia Erivo plays Elphaba, the so-called “Wicked Witch” who fights against a fascist Wizard (played by Jeff Goldblum). Ariana Grande portrays Elphaba’s enemy-turned-bestie Glinda the Good.
When we left off with the first part of the Wicked musical, Elphaba had escaped the Wizard’s clutches, “defying gravity” on her flying broomstick — while Glinda stuck to the comfortable, if also evil, status quo. Wicked: For Good, which released a trailer in June, will explore how the two come back together.
The first new track is titled “No Place Like Home,” a nod to The Wizard of Oz. Erivo sings the song and previously told Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast in December 2024 that she worked closely with Schwartz on the number, calling it “so special.”
“When we filmed it, the entire crew was in tears,” she teased at the time. “I hope audiences are ready — it’s a song that speaks to the heart of who Elphaba is.”

Grande takes the next song, titled “The Girl in the Bubble” — a reference to Glinda, who floats around the world in a literal (and, also, metaphorical) bubble. It is the second-to-last song on the soundtrack, followed by “For Good,” a fan-favorite duet between Elphaba and Glinda.
In a 2023 interview about the musical adaptation, Schwartz said that the new songs were necessary additions to the film, stating that the “storytelling required it.”
“There’s new stuff that I think the fans will enjoy,” he continued. “But our hope and intention is that the people to whom the story and the show are important will not in any way be disappointed, but will be thrilled by what they will see and the new stuff that’s been added and the way film is used.”
On the Variety podcast, Erivo said that the new movie will have a different tone than the first, noting that they are “diving deeper into the consequences of the characters’ choices.”
“The story is richer, and the stakes are higher,” she said. “It’s not just a continuation; it’s a transformation.”
