Princess of Wales and Melania Trump traded their glamorous ball gowns for a more casual look as they served sandwiches to a group of Scouts. The sandwiches featured honey from Kate’s personal beehive.
The princess and the US first lady spent time with 20 Squirrel Scouts today, engaging in nature activities on the Windsor Castle estate to help them earn their Go Wild badges.
This event followed a grand state banquet at Windsor Castle last night, held in honor of President Donald Trump during his second historic state visit to the UK.
Kate prepared a special packed lunch for the children, aged four to five, which included sandwiches made with honey sourced from Anmer Hall, her Norfolk residence.
Melania Trump also brought along gifts: a jar of White House honey for each child from Lewisham, south London.
The princess and First Lady’s joint appearance follows President Trump’s praise of Kate as “so radiant and so healthy and so beautiful” at last night’s state banquet, where she dazzled in a golden ensemble.
Kate donned a custom-made piece by British designer Phillipa Lepley. It featured a full-length, champagne gold hand-embroidered Chantilly lace evening coat with a regal high collar worn over a silk crepe gown.
In his banquet speech, President Trump specifically mentioned the princess, who announced earlier this year that she was in remission from cancer, describing her as “so radiant and so healthy and so beautiful”.
Seated next to the American leader at the banquet table, the princess was seen smiling up at him as he delivered his remarks. The president also commended the Prince of Wales, stating, “His Majesty has also raised a remarkable son in His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales. Really amazing. We’ve gotten to know you and I think you’re going to have an unbelievable success in future.”
He continued, “Melania and I are delighted to visit again with Prince William and to see Her Royal Highness, Princess Catherine, so radiant, so healthy, and so beautiful. It’s really a great honor. Thank you.”
Following the president’s address to the 160 guests in St George’s Hall, Kate beamed as she stood and raised her glass to toast the president.
