“Sun Life is committed to supporting the communities where we live and work, so we are pleased to help the Boys & Girls Clubs provide all the wonderful programming they offer,” said Ryan Bohrer, vice president, Dental and Vision, Sun Life U.S. “We look forward to continue working with the Royals Foundation in supporting community programs that help people get the care they need.”

Strikeout Diabetes has raised more than $280,000 for Kansas City nonprofits since it was first established eight years ago. The goal is to support organizations providing access to health and fitness programs that can help people live healthier lives and avoid type 2 diabetes. As a benefits provider, Sun Life is strongly focused on helping broaden access to care, working with philanthropic partners to support programs that serve vulnerable communities.

“We are lucky to have this continued support from Sun Life and the Royals, ensuring our kids have opportunities to get more involved in health and fitness activities, and better understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle,” said Jason Roth, president and CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City.

Sun Life also conducts the #SunLifeDunk4Diabetes campaign each November (Diabetes Awareness Month) with the Boston Celtics, supporting the YMCA of Greater Boston’s Healthy Habits educational program. In addition, Sun Life and DentaQuest, part of Sun Life U.S., created the Health Access Hero Awards more than 12 years ago, which annually recognize nonprofits and individual change-makers working to broaden access to health services for communities in need.

Sun Life is also a sponsor of the American Diabetes Association and has donated more than $37 million globally to diabetes and diabetes-related causes. Learn more about Sun Life’s partnerships and diabetes programs.
