Who is La Voix?
La Voix is a British drag performer and singer, born Christopher Dennis, reports Teesside Live.
The 45-year-old hails from Stockton-on-Tees and attended Egglescliffe School. At 18, Christopher moved to London to study drama at Brunel University of London before honing his musical theatre skills at Urdang Academy.
When in drag, Christopher uses she/her pronouns, but when out of drag he uses he/him.
Career
Christopher began his career as a make-up artist, working with celebrities and models. Under the La Voix name, he has launched a range of signature makeup.
La Voix has toured globally, performing on over 80 cruise ships and regularly appearing in pantomimes in Aylesbury and High Wycombe.
In 2014, La Voix competed on Britain’s Got Talent. In 2015, La Voix was a finalist on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Ambassador, finishing as runner-up to The Vivienne.
The drag performer took part in Queen of the Universe and served as a drag mentor on Queens for the Night.
During 2024, La Voix appeared on the sixth series of BBC’s RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, securing victory in four challenges, including Snatch Game. She finished as runner-up in the competition.
Creating Strictly history
La Voix becomes the first drag queen to take part in the main series of Strictly Come Dancing. Fellow RuPaul’s Drag Race UK contestant Tayce appeared on the BBC programme’s Christmas special in 2024.
Discussing her decision to join Strictly with the BBC, La Voix commented: “I’ve performed for royalty, RuPaul and Simon Cowell, but nothing fills me with more excitement, and quite a bit of terror, than the thought of dancing in front of millions on live Saturday night TV.
“Strictly is a national institution, and I can’t wait to get started. All that’s left to say is: good luck to my partner! Here’s hoping they can help me go from La Voix into La Danse.”
The television personality has been partnered with Aljaž Škorjanec on Strictly. Announcing the pairing on social media, La Voix posted on Instagram: “Presenting my dream partner! @aljazskorjanec or should we be saying #AliVoix”.
Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
