Actor Justin Baldoni has beefed up his legal team by bringing on board Alexandra Shapiro, Diddy’s lawyer, as he gears up for his impending court battle against Blake Lively.
Court documents reveal that a notice of appearance was filed on Monday, September 15, indicating that Shapiro would be joining the defense team for Baldoni and his company, Wayfarer Studios. The filing was made directly by Shapiro herself.
Shapiro is a renowned criminal defense attorney based in New York, known for handling high-stakes cases. Her past clients include Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried.
Prior to starting her own firm, she served as a clerk for the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
The legal feud between Baldoni and Lively kicked off in December 2024 when the actress accused her It Ends With Us co-star and director of sexual harassment, creating a hostile work environment, and orchestrating a smear campaign against her. Baldoni has refuted all these claims.
“Discovery is proceeding, and we are confident that we will prevail against these factually baseless accusations. Instead of revising the existing claims, our clients will be pursuing additional legal options that are available to us,” they finished.
As the court case draws near, both parties have been moving ahead with depositions. In July, Baldoni’s legal representatives questioned Lively under oath in New York City, with Baldoni in attendance.
A representative for Lively informed Us Weekly following the session, “We are very pleased with the outcome of her deposition, and now look forward to deposing Justin Baldoni and each of the codefendants in short order.
“Deposition testimony is confidential for good reason – it’s evidence in a legal proceeding and is subject to objections and evidentiary rules. Juries aren’t just handed deposition transcripts to read at home, and instead they listen to testimony that is presented at trial under a judge’s supervision,” they concluded.
Earlier this month, legal documents disclosed that another person had stepped forward with allegations against Baldoni. The individual’s name was withheld in the documents, but they leveled accusations of verbal abuse against Baldoni and alleged that the actor was barred from the set for most of the production due to these incidents.
This new accuser could potentially testify in the impending trial between Baldoni and Lively. Baldoni has yet to publicly respond to these fresh allegations.
